(05/12/10 update)
Hey everybody! I know I haven't updated this page in quite some time; and I assure you there are reasons for that. Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you don't care for my infrequent but long winded news page updates), as I have a ton of other business to take care of this afternoon pertaining to one of my other businesses, I don't have time to tell you about them today. I did promise I would jump in and update this page when I had news to share though - and I do - so let's get to it.
We here at Steel Cage Records (yes, both of us) are super duper excited to announce we are starting a new imprint, Green Mist Records, and we are even more super duper excited to announce the impending release of Green Mist's first release, Maximum Respect by super duper Nu Yawk Citay supergroup The Master Plan.
(Truthfully Mr. Steel Cage / Green Mist, as well as the members of the Master Plan, are probably a little too cool to be visibly super duper excited about anything, not to mention use the term super duper in a sentence multiple times, but they don't have to write these news blurbs do they?)
Anywhoo, the record won't officially be released until next month (in terms of actual record stores and wherever else people buy records these days, the CD will be available June 15th, 2010; also meaning my deadline to whip up a website for Green Mist is approximately June 14th, 2010) but the band will have copies on hand when they celebrate the occasion in advance by hosting a record release party this Saturday, aka May 15th, at The Trash Bar in scenic Williamsburg featuring the musical stylings of Brooklyn's Echo, Nights, The Beat Hounds, Ivan Julian and, of course, The Master Plan.
(At least I assume they'll be bringing CDs to their show; otherwise why did we UPS that box of CDs to Andy this morning?)
PS: Speaking of Ivan Julian, The Naked Flame will be the second release on Green Mist; then we're going to make things even more confusing for people by putting out some ANTiSEEN records on our other imprint. But now I'm really getting ahead of myself.
PPS: For those wondering what his means in terms of Steel Cage Records, essentially it means nothing. Except that I won't be updating this page anymore. Otherwise, the site will stay online; our back catalog will continue to be available here and from our distributor, Red Eye; and everything that's currently in print will remain in print. You know, until the time comes when we run out of a particular record and can't afford to reprint it; at which point I guess said record would, by definition, be considered out of print.
(By the way, anyone who has any further questions about the SCR / GMR thang can feel free to call us and we'll do our best to answer your questions. As for anyone who has further questions and doesn't have our phone number... I suppose we don't actually know each other in the real world and probably don't owe you an explanation on how we run or labels anyway. Okey dokey?)
And now that I've given us all a serious case of eye strain, I will sign off.
'til next update,
xo,
leslie
